Reminiscing the good OLE days of childhood brings back so many memories. Play ball in the Park, stay up late at a friends house, or even family road trips comes to mind. Only a few days ago, I had a chance to think about my childhood days. When it seemed was days less desperate. A memory, in particular that brought a smile to my face was thinking about when my friends and I would highlight our favorite candy from the local store.
Today's candy know only not the same thing. There's something about old old-fashioned candy which makes me smile. Today's candy is no match for artists such as: Teaberry chewing gum, Necco wafers, Boston baked beans, root beer BARRELS or Abba Zaba. Each of these yummy candy brings associations to various childhood memories. Since many of these candies are no longer sold in stores, it got me thinking, what are some fun ways to celebrate these retro candy Favorites?
An idea that came to mind was to order a bunch of old time candy from the internet, and throw a party with a nostalgic theme. A strategy might be to send out invitations with a classic style to them encouraging guests to dress according to the ten years they were born in, and then surprise them all by setting up appropriate decorations and music, but more importantly, creatively shows some of the nostalgic candy you ordered. Not only serves the candy as a great decoration, but it is the perfect conversation. When guests will notice some of the sweets are not, they have had in years, they have to get a taste. All is surely to have a story about their favorite childhood candy stick.
Another way to celebrate with nostalgic candy is to send it as a gift. There are websites that sell nostalgic candy itself or as a bunch that are neatly arranged in a gift box. What a great way to send a thanks to a friend or someone else. Once I got a lot of retro sweets as a business gift. There were about 15 different types of old old-fashioned candy which I had not seen in years. Funny part sampling each sweets and reminiscing with my family on the times as a child. Who doesn't love getting some of his old time Favorites with record?
A friend of mine used old old-fashioned sweets on their kid's birthday party and it was a hit! It is sensible, we love old time candy not just memories but because it tastes good. The children become nowadays still excited over gum, cigarettes, circus peanuts, gum, or even gold mine rock candy. You can use the nostalgic candy as a thank you gift to party guests or create a game and share sweets as price. I have also heard by parents to their old time favourite candies in their children's socks at Christmas. To his surprise the kids loved it and said something like, "why don't we have cool candy like this today?"
These are just some of many ideas to bring back some old favorite candies. Regardless of your preference of old old-fashioned candy it is really a funny story. That is why we all love retro candy so much; It's funny! More than just eating sweets, contains nostalgic candy stories and entertainment with friends, children, neighbors and co-workers. Try it yourself and expect a really big smile!
