Who invented the Candy? -Some thoughts!

Candy, often referred to as Kola is a sweet made from a mixture of sugar and water. Sweetness of candy depends on the concentration of sugar content in the mixture. Candy comes in different variations such as candy bars, chocolate and marshmallows. Color and taste of candy varies between continents and a number of additives are introduced to add scent of candies. Candy has been an active part of human civilization from long ago and the determination of origin is almost a difficult task, if not impossible.


But according to available records, candy was invented in 1854 and Whitman's chocolate was the first box of candy. 1868 Formulated Richard Cadbury his Valentine chocolates. The following years saw the development and improvement of composition and structure of candy to entice markets. Today there are a number of candy brands on the market with its revolutionary products such as milk candies, chocolate candy, strawberry candy.


Color and final structure of a candy is determined by the composition of sugar, water and additives. During the manufacturing process boiled the mixture to maintain the moisture content in particular. Too much moisture content of a candy leads to softness while less moisture content makes a harsh and rigid candy. Candy including chocolate and milk products usually contain a large concentration of water in order to ensure smoothness of chocolate and milk. Different types of candy textures are available in the market depending on sugar texture thread, soft ball, hard ball, soft crack, tough crack, clear liquid, brown liquid, and burnt sugar.


Candy will also in vegetarian and non vegetarian shapes. Vegetarian people checking so should always before consuming a candy components. Marshmallows and gummi bears are two non-vegetarian candies, formed by the gelatine derived from a protein found in skin and bones of animals. In addition, a candy also contain preservatives to ensure its freshness for a longer period. The ingredients of a new fictional candy must be Food and Drug Association (FDA) approved before selling them to the open market. Although it is a great product for the tongue without excessive consumption must be avoided because it can lead to serious problems. Excessive intake of sugar can cause diabetes and growth related issues such as obesity among children.
